Write Away! Handwriting Activities for Kids - Grown Ups Magazine - These fine motor skill and handwriting activities can help your child develop a love of learning and build a foundation for good penmanship.

I’ve always been puzzled by the reference to the “Three Rs,” also known as Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic, considering two of the three don’t even begin with “R!” But, as a kid and now as a parent, I regard those as some of the most important subjects a young child can attempt to master. My kids have the math and reading parts down. Now we’re diving into writing!

With computers, tablets, and touchscreens so prevalent today, I’m guessing our youngsters won’t have as much opportunity to practice the skill of penmanship. As I don’t want them to end up with doctor-like chicken scratch, I’ve compiled a round up of the best handwriting skills tips and activities to go along with a new giveaway we’re sharing with Grown Ups readers.

Begin with pre-writing & fine motor skills

Sneak some handwriting readiness into your child’s day. These activities can help your child develop their writing skills as well as a love of learning.
